Dear Sue,
"When I was five-years-old, I contracted polio. The virus left me with nerve damage that caused
atrophy and severe weakness in my right calf muscles. As a result, I walk with a limp and have trouble with balance.
My dilemma has always been the same: I need to exercise my right leg so I won't lose what
I have, but if I over-exercise, I may damage what I'm trying to maintain and hopefully strengthen.
Over the years, I have been in physical therapy and exercise programs, but nothing compares to your Body Flow class.
That perfect combination of yoga, tai chi, and pilates has helped me gain over-all strength and stamina and
feel energized and rejuvenated, without taxing the muscles damaged by polio. Recently, I have noticed that
I am even able to balance on my right leg for very brief moments, and that is something I could never do!
Sue, it seems that your body flow class not only strengthens bodies, minds, and souls, it also repairs damaged nerves! Amazing!

Hi Sue,
I wanted to let you know how awesome BodyEmpower continues to be for me. This is the first spring, and now summer, that I have been able to enjoy due to my continuous results of BodyPump. Not only do I enjoy the freedom of moving my fit and healthy self but I actually am enjoying the weather. I hated the heat in every way before I started pump in January 07. Certainly that is great but even better is that I have maintained a weight loss of 60lbs and many inches and am so delighted and comfortable in my own skin.
As you have said many times the journey is endless!!! The results and the compounding strength I have now is mind blowing. It was even more profound when I recently tried BodyFLow and had the strength and stamina to do and enjoy it...UNBELIEVABLE
( especially for me whose favorite saying used to be "do nothing and rest after") now it is "BRING IT ON!!" As you've said many times the programs are designed to work together and I really could feel that after trying more BodyFlow. The change is so enlivening and my strength continues to build as does my dedication. It is so freeing to be able to get dressed and be comfortable and like how I look and feel...on so many levels. I never thought it would be me. Thank you so much for bringing this program to me and us. I don't even want to think where I would be without it.

"I started "Body Pump" as I was just completing one year of aggressive treatment for breast cancer. I was able to begin at my own pace, with my own protocol, and never felt pressured or stressed to do more than I felt comfortable with. Sue was and is there, to provide expertise and inspiration, truly a joy to be around and her energy is infectious!
I am overjoyed to say I am currently up to my "precancerous" weight lifting level, and continue to feel stronger and healthier every day!

"In January I was in a nail salon when a woman walked in, and the girls in the salon
were commenting on how great she looked. I asked her what she did, and she said weight-lifting
in a class in Melrose. In February when I was at my wits end on what I needed to do to try to get into
shape (of course I never got the name of the program or address), I got onto my computer and "Googled"
until I found Body Empower. I called Sue that night and started on February 9th! I have now lost 11 lbs!
I recently started the Body Combat class too! I cannot believe the changes in my mind, body and attitude since joining.
And one last thing, the most impressive day at Body Empower was the morning of the Launch. That day showed how much
the instructors love what they do, as well as, how great they are at what they do, their energy level is over-the-top! They’re the best. "

"After my third child I struggled with my weight for several years. I was 35 pounds overweight and no matter
what diet or exercise routine I tried, I always ended up quitting out of frustration. My self-esteem was at an
all-time low, and I even struggled with bouts of depression. My doctor told me that the only way I would be able
to lose 35 pounds at my age (48) would be to diet and run marathons regularly! Last June I
joined Weight Watchers and the weight started to come off slow, but steady. However, after
I lost half my weight, it became much harder to lose. I knew I needed to add some exercise.
Some of my friends were taking the Body Pump class and highly recommended it.
I joined Body Empower in October. By Christmas I had all but 5 pounds off. By Easter I was definitely looking
toned. For Mother's Day my three teenage children gave me a
bikini! When I was young and had a nice shape, I was too conscientious to wear a bikini.
I've worked hard this past year
and I'm proud of myself. So, I'm wearing the bikini!
Sue, Not only do you give us a great workout, you inspire us to be better, encourage us to continue,
and help us to see that we are strong and beautiful women, no matter what our age is. And, you always
make us laugh - what better way to start the day!

"Sue,
I have been an athlete my whole life and an avid runner for 14 years. I am always looking for new exercises to challenge my body
and to perfect my body. I lifted weights on and off over the years but my priority was always running. As I get older
I realize that even though running keeps me fit and my weight down, my body is changing and starting to sag in some areas.
I found out about BodyPump about 4 months ago and I have never
seen such a change in my body as I have by doing BodyPump. I am
completely addicted!! BodyPump has toned and tightened parts of my body
that I have never been able to tone before (for me it's my hips, thighs, and butt).
I feel incredibly strong! I have gotten a few compliments on my body lately which is always flattering.
In addition, my husband has told me on more than one occasion how much he is loving my a** !!! WooHoo!!
I always thought running was enough, but after doing BodyPump I realize that strength training is just as important
for weight control. I do the 6:00a.m. class M,W,F with Michele and she is
amazing!!! The 6:00a.m. class is filled with extremely dedicated men & women who all work very hard!
To have an instructor like Michele is wonderful! She is motivating, energetic, and one of the strongest
women I have ever met. She is incredibly cheerful & inspiring so very early in the morning. If I don't feel
like working hard one day, I look at the effort Michele puts into her workout, and I can't help but put 100%
into my own workout. I have taken an inch off of my thighs and the cellulite on the thigh/butt area
has slowly gone away. At a time in my life when I
felt that the aging process has begun and my body will never be the same as it was in my 20's,
I now feel like I look better than I did in my 20's.
BodyPump is life changing!!"

"Sue,
When my younger brothers called me and asked if I wanted to join them for a climb up Mount Washington
carrying a 50 lb pack, I was able to say yes because of the state of fitness I’ve been brought to through your Body Pump class.
It was an intense day of fitness. We hiked at a steady pace for over 2 hours before reaching the caretakers hut
(called HoJos). I kept thinking how difficult the hike would have been without all those lunges and squats. We climbed or
ascended really for another hour up some fairly steep terrain before reaching the base of Tuckermans Ravine.
We ate lunch, stashed our hiking gear and back packs and changed into our ski boots. With our skis over one shoulder and our
poles in the other, we began our route to the top of the Headwall, a nearly vertical hike up some of the scariest slopes I’ve ever
seen. Near the top I had to use my skis like a rake to pull myself up to the next footholds. Thanks for all those shoulder, bicep
routines. At the top we didn’t have much time to relax. The wind was blowing pretty good and we had opted to leave our
ski jackets below. So, with my burning quads I attempted to ski down a sheer cliff. At one point I was looking down, getting
very scared and questioning my sanity. I was eventually able to make my way down to an area near all the crowds and tried to
show off. I wiped out, tumbled about 20 feet and listened to the crowd cheers.
I attached some pictures from the day. Thanks for getting me ready for this event. I will be
50 this year and probably wouldn’t have done this without having taken your class.

"I started BodyPump at the beginning of Jan '07. I have never liked or followed thru with
any physical program save a bit of walking and svaroopa yoga which is about opening not conditioning.
I started to notice the people who were taking this class were having unbelievable and undeniable results.
I had also begun to lose a little weight due to my physician giving me the talk about my age and weight
(last May) and well, I decided I should capitalize on that and also I just was tire of not feeling good, well, fit.
Sue is so infectiously positive, super encouraging and exceptionally astute in how she trains the class.
I have never felt better, fitter, more alive, more tolerant more filled with energy. The best, of
course, is that I have had significant results in the last 3 months. The inches, the strength and
the peace of mind I have from investing this small amount of time is phenomenal. It has brought
tears of joy on more than one occasion. Just getting thru a simple trip to the Aquarium with
my 8 yr old daughter and not getting tired and cranky and sweaty half way thru....I also have a
congenital, degenerative arch which can and can affect my form but Sue has worked with me every
step of the way and she is so right on when she says to work with the quality vs. quantity idea and all
the other tid - bits she gives us . I truly feel like I have begun my life anew and not on the decline everyday.

"Thank you, thank you! I have been in and out of fitness programs since I was a senior in high school in 1977
and joined Gloria Stevens (!!). Never have I experienced anything like your Body Pump class.
There are so many great things about it – the camaraderie among you and all the participants, of course.
We are truly a team. Beyond that, I love that it’s quick, efficient and effective. There is no wasting of time.
I used to go and work out and come home thinking, “well, it’s good that I went. I must be doing something
good for myself.” With Body Pump, I KNOW that it’s working. You put in the effort and you get results that
you can see – and feel. I walk around town feeling like I should break into a run, that I could leap tall buildings
in a single bound! I have so much more strength and energy and I am absolutely hooked. Now, for a word about
Body Combat – everyone should try it. For pure, sweaty fun (and who doesn’t like that?), it can’t be beat.
The class goes by in the wink of an eye and you’ll burn a billion calories! I can’t say enough about the whole
Body Empower program – thanks, Sue, for bringing it to Melrose!"

"I had been working out on my own in a local gym for several years, but my
workouts had grown stale and I felt I wasn't challenging myself. A friend
suggested I try a Body Pump class, and I was hooked! The workout is challenging,
different, and would you believe fun? You might not think it's possible to enjoy a
kick butt workout class, but you'd be wrong! There's a great group of ladies (and a man or two!)
who encourage and support each other. And of course there's Sue, who is amazing!
She motivates and challenges us to work our hardest, but makes sure we work out safely
using proper form and technique. (See Sue I am listening!) In the three months
since I started, I've lost 7 pounds without dieting, have gone down a pant size,
have firmed muscles I wasn't even aware of, and am even getting compliments
from some unlikely places, like my teenage daughter! (A very rare thing, trust me.)
Like Sue says, it's "the fastest way in the world to get in shape, but you can't just
show up!" She's made a believer out of me!"

As we were pumpin' through I was thinking I'm so addicted to this
workout... I'm glad they don't make a Body Pump patch! Seriously though,
the classes have completely improved the quality of my life, physically
and mentally. I'm getting stronger everyday becoming aware of muscles I
forgot I had. I'm feeling proud of the weight I'm lifting and improving
my overall health in so many ways. I look forward to every class! The
music is rockin' and everyone is so encouraging. It's an addiction,
finally a positive one!

"I began taking Sue's classes in July and can truly say I'm a changed
woman. I'm 52 and I was out of shape, unhealthy and overweight. When I
got on the talking scale it said, "One at a time." I hated looking in full
length mirrors. I wasn't just a pear or an apple, I was the entire fruit
basket. I knew I should exercise but that prospect was about as enticing
as fingernails on a blackboard. I was sure if I walked into a traditional
gym, everybody would laugh, stare, or ask, "Who's that following you
around?"(I've got a million of these...) Now that I've painted that negative portrait, let me erase it by
saying I now love exercise and I don't even mind looking in mirrors. I have lost 40 pounds so far and I am
strongly motivated to continue my quest for
better health and a stronger, leaner body. But it's not just weight loss; it's a whole new body shape,
plus much more confidence and energy. I feel younger
and more athletic too and have to fight the urge to have total strangers
feel my firm biceps! The compliments have been coming pretty often lately, and I have no
problem giving Sue all the credit. Sure, I have been eating a healthier diet, and I do walk
or go to the gym on days I don't have class. But Sue
provides the energy, the encouragement, the support, and the wonderful classes. Sue not
only teaches exercise classes, she teaches women to love
and appreciate their bodies, no matter the age or the size. Sue moves me
to tears with the love and devotion to her craft and to each of us who work with her.
If exercise is a religion, she has made me a
believer...."

"I never liked to exercise. I didn’t think it worked for me. My boyfriend and I decided to try the
Body Pump session and for the first time. I have seen some results. I can actually do 10 pushups now.
I could barely do one at the first class. I feel stronger now. Activities which used to be strenuous
are now easier. Best of all, my clothes fit better.
Sue keeps the class interesting, always some new challenge. There’s never a dull moment,
yet, Sue respects each person and makes sure we are all properly performing each exercise
without injury. I really like this class and will definitely repeat it. The price is right and it’s in a great space."

"Hi Sue,
I’m so glad you started Body Empower – it’s a great exercise program.
Here’s my first small victory: I have had a long-term problem with my right shoulder,
and an orthopedic specialist had told me that there was no solution. I just wouldn’t be able to
do any strenuous exercise with that shoulder any more. After a few weeks of strengthening my
shoulders in Body Pump, and exercising with the right form thanks to your instruction, I am able to
do push-ups again (well, modified push-ups, but they’re push-ups!) I could even do my punishment
push-ups when I was late to class! (I think I’m happy about that…)
